Minetest 5.5.0 is Out, Forked their own Rendering Engine using IrrlichtMT


Minetest 5.5.0 is now available. It includes a change from Irrlicht to Minetest's own fork of IrrlichtMt that has specific enhancements for Minetest. What is Minetest? It's an open-source voxel game engine, that can be modified to make different games - such as Minecraft.



Apart from the rendering tech evolving, there are many other changes. Here are some highlights:



Improved support for TTF fonts - Touch UI support for desktop builds – Joystick sensitivity for player movement Chat buttons that can be clicked within the chat and disabled by default. Norm support for texture (for minimap shaders) - Many new additions for modders.  Game blog Performance improvements and bug fixes. Add the ability to toggle the map block boundaries (F8 default).
